Structural Bodywork

Structural Bodywork

Structural Bodywork is a unique way of working with the body that focuses on a specific connective tissue called fascia which spreads from head to toe. Trauma, poor posture or inflammation can create a binding of the fascia resulting in pressure on the nerves, muscles and blood vessels. It is believed that a high percentage of people suffereing with pain and/or a decrease in mobility may be experiencing fascial adhesions. This type of work can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, increase joint flexibility and mobility, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, and improving posture. This is accomplished by working directly with the fascia. In addition to doing Structural Bodywork, I am trained as a MELT Hand & Foot Instructor. The MELT Method is a simple self-treatment method that combats chronic pain, improves performance, and decreases the accumulated stress created by manual therapist Sue Hitzmann, based in New York City, and is now being taught across the country to groups and individuals by instructors trained by Hitzmann. The MELT Method is the very first Hands-Off Bodywork method developed for the general public as a self-care tool to prevent and relieve chronic pain. It's an affordable addition to any wellness or fitness routine.
