The best word to describe how I feel right now is hot. I feel like I’m constantly sweating and hot wherever I go. It’s hot in the studio, it’s hot outside, it’s hot in the car…so hot in fact that a plastic cup of iced coffee melted in my car on Monday. We are in the thick of the summer here in the south. The thing that really puts you over the edge is the humidity paired with the heat. Zoey sits at the door and whines every night for us to go outside and throw her ball but this is her new trick when she gets tired. She goes and lays down under a bush! She’s like, “I’m done.” Runs have been absolute sweat feasts. I look like I’ve jumped in a pool at the end of them and if my hair was straight before the run, my ponytail is curls after. I got a manicure and pedicure on Monday evening. I even splurged for the “deluxe” pedicure that came with extra hot towels, a masque and extra hot stone massage. It was heavenly and the perfect way to enjoy a little TLC after my family left. Speaking of my fam…here’s part two of their visit! We picked Kilynn up from camp a little early on Friday and I was so happy to see her as happy as could be in the pool. As I mentioned last week, she did a splash camp that was focused on swimming and they had both lessons and play time every day. Her counselors went on and on about how much progress she made with her lessons over the course of the week. We had a fun surprise for the girls when we got back to our house…their mom! She came to join us for the weekend. We got cleaned up and ready for a cookout at Tanner’s mom’s house. She just moved from Beaufort, SC to a suburb of Charlotte and it was our first time seeing her new home. Tanner’s brother and sister and their families were there as well. I was appreciative to his mom for welcoming my crew to the party. It was the first time our moms met! I had a burger, kale and quinoa salad, baked beans and potato salad. We said goodbye to my mom on Saturday morning and then got started on a busy, busy day! I taught yoga at 11:15 a.m. and everyone came with me! Jaidyn took kid’s yoga, Kilynn went to play in child watch and Erika (the girl’s mom) and Tanner took my class. It was Erika’s first yoga class and she totally got thrown into the fire with a hot class but she hung in there and enjoyed it! After class we met Tanner’s family for lunch at Namastay Kitchen and then took the girls to Discovery Place. Discovery Place is a science and technology museum in town that is geared towards kids. It was my first time visiting and I was blown away by how much there was to see and do. We only had 2.5 hours to spend there before they closed and the time flew by! Gosh, it’s just the best to see things through the eyes of a child. I loved watching them interact with the exhibits. Kilynn liked the touch tank but the only thing she’d touch was the starfish. She was scared of the brown and furry things! They have a replica of the tallest man in human history, Robert Wadlow. Kilynn wouldn’t go anywhere near him (he was automated to sit and stand) but Jaidyn and I posed for a photo. It was a fun afternoon! The girls were majorly tired after the day’s events so we headed home to rest before an evening pool party. Tanner, Erika and both of the girls napped and I went for a short run. Our friends Eric and Sarah had some people over for sushi and a pool party. The food was from Cowfish and so delicious. Eric and Sarah have an 11 year old daughter so the girls loved playing with her. She was so great with them. They were in the pool for hours. Jaidyn had so much fun that she ended up spending the night! On Sunday Erika and the girls got packed up and Kilynn said goodbye to Sullie. These two formed a special bond over the course of the week. It was so sweet and my Sullie girl was so patient and gentle. I am so grateful for this week that I got to spend with them and I can’t wait to do it again soon! I’m off to sweat more. I am teaching hot yoga at 6 p.m. and it’s supposed to get even hotter here over the next few days! Favorite way to cool off during the summer? Is your dog good with kids? Tell me sweet dog and kid stories please. Original article and pictures take http://www.peanutbutterrunner.com/ site
