It’s been a few months since I last posted, so I thought I’d give a quick update. My hips are doing well. They still occasionally pop, but not painfully so I am not really concerned. I have a feeling it is due to tight muscles since I have not been doing my PT for a few weeks. I was sick the last few weeks with an ongoing bout of Strep/Scarlet Fever. I’ve had strep a few times within the last 7 years, but how I ended up with Scarlet Fever is beyond me. I haven’t even had as much as a simple cold since late 2015 (well before my first surgery). The first round of antibiotics didn’t work, so I was given a new one. I’m on the tail end of them, and feeling good. They say after 24 hours of being on antibiotics you can go back to work. Luckily no one around me got sick as I am a self-proclaimed germ-a-phobe so I am always washing my hands. I’d hate to be the reason someone got sick. In the midst of all this, I started a new job. I’ll be on my feet all day which is a change from my last job, but it is a welcomed change. Sitting all day is not healthy, nor is it good for my hips. I’m gradually getting worked into the business, so today I only worked 4.5 hours, yet I logged 10,000 steps on my pedometer. I am really looking forward to being active at work, instead of sitting at a desk all day. For one thing it will help get me back into shape. The downside to this job is that I do have to work some weekends and weekends are when I usually go hiking. I’ll just have to request a few weekends off so I can hit the trail. At least me working will be getting my hips in shape with all the walking/stairs etc. as opposed to sitting sedentary behind a desk.
